First, let me say that I have read 8 books in this series. So, I am speaking with some authority here. After Book 3, I kept hoping for a change in direction or storyline. I understand that the series is called The Protectors and I understand what that entails. But, basically, ALL of the books in this series are the same - they all have similar characters, similar plot lines, similar physical characteristics, similar self-doubts and misunderstandings between characters, similar conversations, similar sexual enactments, similar rescues, etc. Nothing is original from book to book. One of each of the main characters is charged with protecting the other, but each falls in love with the other in a matter of a couple weeks, not months, and profess their love as quickly. Usually, a marriage is scheduled within a year of meeting for the first time. Usually one of the main characters is a previously heterosexual, gay virgin. There is such a lack of professionalism and separation between the protector and his charge! These guys can't control themselves! The men are hypersexual - they have erections if a strong wind blows their way and all carry condoms and lube in their wallets ready at the drop of a hat for a sexual encounter. No one preps before sex. NO ONE does this! NONE of this is realistic.
